Oddly, i've been to many camera trade shows, and just about every stand that was selling HDV cameras explained to me that 'these are the type of cameras used in Star Wars!'.

Unfortunately, they are liars.

They used a Sony/Panavision F900 camera for Star Wars, and they're worth at least $100,000. On top of that the lenses are worth up to $300,000.

If you want to rent one you're looking at $1000 per day.

And then if you want to actually use it you need HD monitors as well, which are also about $1000 a day.

I suspect what your friend meant is that he can get a HDV camera, which is a similar format to the one used on Star Wars.

As far as books, i would strongly recommend the 'Guerilla Filmmaking Handbook'

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">First, write a script or have someone write one. Second, determine a budget and cost your film using this very helpful spreadsheet:

Fill in as much info as possible, implying money being no object. Then start cutting down until you achieve your goal using the budget provided.

Only then may you think about buying or renting a camera.

Arduous, I know, but once you have done it you will be excellently equipped to argue a higher budget with financiers and get a decent film made.

No ,I am not punking you!!!! The Camera gear that may not happen because.i have learn people talk a good deal about letting you do things for free,but you get what you pay for. I got the money by build a good credit report, credit cards,bank loans.and saving over 10,0000 from my jobs. If I Bomb ,I will have to live with mom/dad forever,will not be able to by a new car for years,But if you want something in life you got to pay the price & give up this & that.. Like buying cheap clothes not going out,or going on holiday!!!1Just doing without to have my dream.I want this real bad for many years;.The Film is call project X&gt;&gt;&gt; I have maade two movie using super 8

I agree, that you can't just sit back, and that you have to go out there and do it... and various other catchphrases...

I'm just suggesting that perhaps since you don't know anything about filmmaking (i'm assuming this because of the questions you are asking, sorry if i am wrong) then you should maybe consider doing a small short film or something with no budget first.

Thanks, I have been think about that. I have study 35mm,but not the shooting on video then Transfer to Film.A few people said try it,but no one knew the cost to give it the look that movie houses want.

right now I and studying, reading books asking Question nothing is writing in STONE!!!!! Just geting infor,, I really want shoot 35mm,Kevin Smith "" was talking about how cheap it is to shoot on film, you can burn right threw it,but they don't get into how much it will cost to get the look of what the Movie houses want. To many film makers rush to shoot and for get about the lights & after look lab cost,editing etc. I just want to know all my choices.
